[IT Issue] The first story of "What is Cloud?"

We hear the word “Cloud” very often as we can hear them from TV commercials, news, internet articles and even at work.

The word “Cloud” is mentioned a lot in the field of economic, current affairs and 4th Industrial Revolution.

But did you know that there are a lot of people who use the word cloud-based and cloud-environment without knowing the exact meaning. So, today we are going to find out together the exact meaning of the word ‘cloud’.

Generally, when we think of the word cloud, various things come to mind. As Naver Cloud has the word ‘cloud’ in its name, many people think of it as a storing place.

If you are involved in IT, some of you may think it as a hosting web like Cafe 24 or others may think it as a system like AWS. Also, you may think it as using a large server equipment divided into functions or resources.

When you look at the word ‘cloud’ itself, it is just a cloud that’s in the sky. To be more precise, ‘Cloud ooo’, ‘Cloud ㅁㅁㅁ’ are abbreviated to be called cloud. Even if you ask Google, the answer is a cloud in the sky as the below image shows.

Usually ‘cloud computing’ and ‘cloud service’ is the exact term when it’s related to cloud in IT field.

We made the cloud computing content of the English Wiki into word cloud as shown above. The words’ size gets bigger as it is mentioned more frequently. The image above shows that the word ‘cloud’, ‘computing’, and ‘service’ has a lot to do with the word ‘service’.

So, how can we define cloud computing?

Cloud computing is something that is processed by another computer connected to the Internet.

Then what is cloud service? It’s a service handled by other computers connected to the Internet.
